Woman, Minor Son Killed In Lightning Strike In Jharsuguda

Jharsuguda: Lightning strike claimed two lives and left one person critically injured in the Siriabagicha area of Jharsuguda city on Thursday evening. The victims, a woman and her minor son, died on the spot, while the husband sustained serious injuries in the incident.

According to preliminary reports, the family was caught in the open when the lightning struck. Local residents, alerted by the thunderous sound and the aftermath, quickly responded and arranged for an ambulance to rush the trio to the district headquarters hospital. Despite emergency medical attention, the woman and her son could not be saved. The husband is currently undergoing treatment and remains in a critical condition.

Authorities are yet to release the identities of the victims as the investigation is ongoing. The incident has cast a pall of gloom over the area, with residents expressing shock over the sudden tragedy.
