Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi has announced that Odisha is poised to become the textile hub of Eastern India, as the state government inaugurated Odisha TEX 2025, Eastern India’s largest textile and apparel industry event, in Bhubaneswar.
The event attracted over 650 delegates, including global brands, leading textile and apparel companies, investors, and senior government officials.
The summit witnessed the signing of 33 MoUs, worth ₹7,808 crore, which are expected to generate employment for over 53,300 people. The Chief Minister announced the launch of two state-of-the-art Textile & Footwear Parks with plug-and-play facilities for global-standard manufacturing, modern Workers’ Hostels, and MoUs for Skill Development.
The Chief Minister announced an increase in employment cost subsidies under the Odisha Technical Textile & Apparel Policy 2022 from ₹5,000 to ₹6,000 per month per male worker and from ₹6,000 to ₹7,000 per month per female worker. He also announced that Odisha TEX will be an annual event, showcasing the state’s rich handloom legacy and modern textile ecosystem.
The state government aims to create over 1 lakh jobs in textiles and apparel by 2030, with plans to expand new textile clusters in Bolangir, Keonjhar, Sambalpur, Jatsinghpur, Ganjam, and Cuttack. The Chief Minister emphasised Odisha’s ambitious vision for the textile industry, backed by excellent infrastructure, governance, and attractive incentive packages.
The event saw participation from over 160 companies, including Page Industries, First Step Baby Wear, KPR Mills, Sportking, Adarsh Knitwear, Anubhav Apparels, Bon & Co., and B.L. International, representing the full spectrum of India’s textile value chain.
With the success of Odisha TEX 2025, the state has firmly positioned itself as the next big textile destination in India, drawing national attention and global interest for its integrated and sustainable approach to textile growth.
