Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Wednesday conducted an aerial survey of flood-affected areas across Odisha to assess the situation on the ground and review relief measures.

The Chief Minister surveyed Jajpur, Bhadrak, Balasore, and Anandapur in Keonjhar district, which have been severely impacted by recent flooding.

Aerial Survey

Speaking to the media, the Chief Minister said that relief and rescue operations are underway in the Balasore, Bhadrak, and Jajpur districts. A total of 19 ODRAF teams, 1 NDRF team, and 40 Fire Services teams have been deployed across these three districts.

“Eight blocks have been impacted and we have set up 29 free kitchens, serving cooked food to around 10,000 people twice a day,” he said.

Departments have been directed to submit damage reports. Based on these, compensation will be given to affected persons. The government will also ensure repairs to damaged roads and houses, and provide new homes to those who have lost theirs.

“No casualties have been reported so far. Our teams are on the ground and the government is fully prepared to support the people,” the Chief Minister assured.

He was accompanied by Revenue and Disaster Management Minister Suresh Pujari, Higher Education, Sports and Youth Affairs Minister Suryabanshi Suraj, and Special Relief Commissioner Deoranjan Kumar Singh during the aerial inspection.
