Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Sub-ordinate Staff Selection Commission (OSSSC) has cancelled the Revenue Inspector (RI) and Amin preliminary exam due to allegations of irregularities.
A fresh preliminary exam will be conducted in a fair and impartial manner, ensuring transparency and merit-based selection.
The decision comes after candidates approached the Orissa High Court, alleging that the OSSSC’s decision to clear all candidates for the main exam violated Section 10 of the government recruitment notification. The court was informed that the OSSSC would cancel the previous exam and organise a new prelims exam.
The OSSSC had received over 5 lakh applications for the 2,895 vacant posts, and around 2 lakh 93 thousand candidates appeared for the exam. The preliminary exam was held from September 20 to October 8, 2024, and was marred by allegations of irregularities. OSSSC initially declared all candidates who appeared in the prelims exam as passed, allowing them to appear for the main exam. However, this decision was challenged in court by some candidates.
The cancellation of the exam has left lakhs of candidates unhappy, especially since they had started intensive preparations for the exam scheduled between August 1 and September 7, 2025. The OSSSC had also made admit cards available on its website before the exam was cancelled.
The OSSSC will soon publish the exam schedule and other details on its official website, www.osssc.gov.in. The commission has assured that the new exam will be conducted fairly and transparently.
