Bhubaneswar: The Jagannath Temple in Puri will be closed to devotees for approximately five hours on Friday (August 15), due to the Sri Krishna Janma ritual, a traditional part of temple customs. The Shree Jagannath Temple Administration has announced that public darshan will be suspended after the Sandhya Dhupa ritual, from around 7 pm to midnight.
During this period, devotees will not be allowed inside the inner sanctum, where the ritual will be performed in the sanctum sanctorum (Garbhagruha). Temple authorities have requested devotees and visitors to plan their visits accordingly.
“Tomorrow, Friday, 15 August 2025, on the occasion of Bhadraba Krishna Saptami with Ashtami Tithi, the Krishna Janma ritual will be observed in the Shree Jagannath Temple.
Accordingly, public darshan will remain closed approximately from 7:00 PM until 12:00 midnight i.e. from commencement of Sandhya Dhupa Bhoga (Evening Offering) till the completion of the Krishna Janma ritual,” Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) stated.
