State-Level Workshop On UX And Design System Held In Bhubaneswar

Bhubaneswar: A State-Level Awareness and Sensitisation Workshop on User Experience and Design System was recently held at the State Convention Hall, Lok Seva Bhavan, in Bhubaneswar. The workshop brought together officials from the state government’s National Informatics Centre (NIC), and Odisha Computer Application Centre (OCAC).

Vishal Kumar Dev, Principal Secretary of Electronics & Information Technology and Energy Departments, emphasised the importance of coordination between the Government of Odisha and the Government of India organisations to maximise citizen benefits during his inaugural address.

Dr. Pradeep Kumar Raut, Special Secretary of the Department of Electronics & Information Technology, highlighted the significance of user experience and design systems in strengthening citizen-centric applications. He encouraged officers to apply these concepts to improve service delivery.

The workshop featured five technical sessions conducted by UI/UX experts Mr. Ajit Kumar and Ms. Stuti Sharma from the Centre for Development of Advanced Computing (C-DAC) under the aegis of National e-Governance Division (NeGD), along with Mr. Niladri Bihari Mohanty, Scientist, NIC Odisha. These sessions were coordinated by Mr. Jayant Kumar Mishra, Scientist, NIC Odisha.

A brochure on “UI/UX in e-Governance” was released during the event. Dr. Ashok Kumar Hota, Deputy Director General and State Informatics Officer, NIC Odisha, announced that NIC will soon organise tech boot camps on Artificial Intelligence and emerging technologies for Odisha Government officers.

The workshop was jointly organised by NeGD, NIC, Department of Electronics & IT, Government of Odisha, and OCAC, with the aim of enhancing efficiency, timeliness, simplicity, and overall service delivery through user-centric design and UX principles.
