Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government has simplified the paddy registration process for farmers by introducing a ‘self-declaration’ form to ease participation in the procurement drive for the Kharif Marketing Season 2025–26.
Food Supply and Consumer Welfare Minister Krushna Chandra Patra announced on Sunday that the deadline for registration has been extended from August 20 to August 25 to allow more farmers to complete the process.
Minister Patra explained that the self-declaration form has been distributed to all districts to facilitate a smoother and faster registration process.
“We have further simplified the registration process for farmers to participate in paddy procurement. They can now register themselves by submitting the self-declaration form,” he said while briefing the media in Bhubaneswar.
The government decided to extend the registration deadline following difficulties faced by farmers in completing land registration. Many farmers encountered delays due to the non-availability of key documents such as consent letters from legal heirs or co-sharers and genealogy reports issued by revenue inspectors.
The Food Supply and Consumer Welfare Department has sent the self-declaration forms to all district collectors to ensure no eligible farmer is left out of the Minimum Support Price (MSP) benefits.
Paddy procurement for the Kharif crop season is scheduled to begin in the first week of November and the government aims to complete the entire registration process by August 30.
