Bhubaneswar: A five-member special team from Jajpur Police, led by the Superintendent of Police, Yashpratap Shrimal, successfully rescued a minor girl from Madhya Pradesh’s Sagar Town area.
The girl, a resident of Jajpur district, was allegedly sold to a person in Madhya Pradesh and forced into an illegal marriage. A case was registered at the Kaliapani police station in this regard on August 12. During the investigation, the police came to know that the minor girl was residing in the Sagar Town police station area of Madhya Pradesh. Following this, a 5-member special team from Jajpur Police, under the direction of the Superintendent of Police, travelled to Madhya Pradesh.
Upon arrival, with the assistance of the Madhya Pradesh Police, the team successfully rescued the minor girl and arrested the accused person involved in the crime.
It is learnt that the minor girl is currently under medical examination, and after the procedure, she will be handed over to her family members. The accused person will be interrogated and later produced in court.
The police are further investigating the case to identify and apprehend other persons involved in the crime.
Jajpur SP, however, assured that the investigation is ongoing to bring all perpetrators to justice.
