Bhubaneswar: A six-foot-long male crocodile was successfully rescued from a pond in Pentha village under Rajnagar block of Kendrapara district on Tuesday.
According to reports, the crocodile was found in Rabindra Mohanty pond and is believed to have entered the pond through a nearby canal. The rescue operation was initiated after locals reported that a goat had been killed by the reptile in the area.
Acting on these reports, forest personnel, under the guidance of DFO Rajnagar Wildlife, Jadav Sudarsan Gopinath, used nets to safely capture the crocodile.
Following its rescue, the animal was released into the wild near Haveli Creek near Gupti in Bhitarkanika National Park.
