Bhubaneswar: CCTV cameras and drones will be used to monitor forcible donation collections during festivities, informed Director General of Police (DGP) Yogesh Bahadur Khurania on Friday.
Khurania has issued strong instructions to Superintendents of Police (SPs) to remain vigilant to curb forced collection of donations with the commencement of festival seasons.
Talking to media, Khurania said, “With the festival season underway, all SPs have been directed to exercise heightened vigilance during puja festivities to curb forcible collection of donations. We will not tolerate any form of forced donation, and strict action will be taken against those found guilty. Additionally, CCTV cameras and drones will be deployed at select locations to curb the menace, ensuring peaceful and safe celebrations for all.”
Khurania also emphasized that the police require active cooperation from the public to ensure a peaceful and successful festival season.
He urged citizens to report any suspicious activity or incidents of forced donation, harassment, or other disturbances during the puja festivities, assuring that their concerns would be addressed promptly and effectively.
