Bhubaneswar: The Special Judge, Vigilance, Bhubaneswar, on Friday convicted and sentenced Kushal Chandra Chatterjee, former Junior Town Planner of the Bhubaneswar Development Authority (BDA) to three years of rigorous imprisonment (RI) in a corruption case.
The court also imposed a fine on convict Chatterjee.
Chatterjee, an outsourced employee of BDA, had been charge-sheeted by Odisha Vigilance under Sections 13(2) read with 13(1)(d) and 7 of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988, for demanding and accepting a bribe from a complainant in exchange for plan approval for the construction of a residential building.
After a detailed hearing, the court sentenced Chatterjee to three years of rigorous imprisonment (RI) and imposed a fine.
This conviction marks yet another success in Odisha Vigilance’s drive against corruption in government and allied offices.
