Sundargarh: An elephant sustained severe injuries after being hit by a train at Rajgangpur in Sundargarh district. The incident occurred between Sonakhani and Sagara railway stations under the Rajgangpur forest range.

According to preliminary information, the elephant is suspected to have been severely injured after being hit by a train while crossing the railway track. Upon being informed, Railway officials and forest officials have reached the scene and initiated an investigation. The elephant’s condition is stated to be critical, and efforts are being made to rescue it.

Meanwhile, a rescue team along with the Rourkela DFO has arrived at the site. However, due to the challenging terrain with hills on both sides and the railway track in between, rescuing the elephant won’t be easy.

Till the last report came in, rescue efforts are underway.
