Bhubaneswar: In a bid to ensure a peaceful and festive atmosphere during the upcoming Dussehra celebrations, the Odisha Police have launched a state-wide crackdown on criminals and anti-social elements. Director General of Police (DGP) YB Khurania has instructed all Superintendents of Police (SPs) to take stringent action against fugitives and those with non-bailable arrest warrants.
As part of ‘Operation Drive Against Anti-Social’, the police have prepared a list of individuals to be arrested and are working to expel anti-social elements from districts and cities. This move aims to rid the state of elements that pose a threat to public safety.
The Odisha Police’s efforts have been intensified under ‘Operation Prahar’, which has led to significant seizures and arrests in recent weeks. Key highlights of the operation include:
– 110 cases registered, 157 people arrested
– 4808 kg of marijuana seized, 93 people arrested in 72 cases
– 2374 grams of brown sugar seized, 45 people arrested in 27 cases
– 3052 bottles of cough syrup seized, 19 people arrested
Additionally, 129 BNSS forces have taken action against 70 individuals, and the administration has sealed three shops accused of smuggling narcotics.
The police’s proactive measures are expected to ensure a safe and joyful Dussehra celebration for the people of Odisha.
