Bhubaneswar: A 25-year-old youth Suraj Sahu, who set himself ablaze last Wednesday evening, died at AIIMS Bhubaneswar. According to AIIMS, Sahu succumbed to his burns this evening while undergoing treatment.
The incident occurred at Mentu Chhack under Bada Bazar police station two days ago, where Sahu poured petrol on himself and set fire, prompting immediate admission to MKCG Medical College in Berhampur. Due to the severity of his condition, he was later shifted to AIIMS Bhubaneswar for specialised care.
Despite the medical team’s efforts to save him, Sahu’s condition remained critical, and he ultimately died this evening. Before his death, Sahu had hinted at his intentions on social media, posting a status indicating his desire to die and absolving others of responsibility.
After completing the necessary procedures at the medical college, Sahu’s mortal remains will be taken to Puri, where his last rites will be performed. The circumstances surrounding this tragic event are still under scrutiny.
