Chief Secy Manoj Ahuja Reviews Progress Of Homi Bhabha Cancer Hospital Project

Bhubaneswar: A review meeting was held today under the chairmanship of Chief Secretary Shri Manoj Ahuja to discuss the progress of the establishment of Homi Bhabha Cancer Hospital and Research Centre at Jatni in Khurda district.

The hospital, being set up in collaboration with Tata Memorial Cancer Hospital, Mumbai, will have 294 beds and provide much-needed cancer treatment facilities to patients in Odisha and neighbouring states.

The meeting discussed various aspects of the project, including land acquisition, construction of roads and drainage systems, uninterrupted power supply, and financial arrangements. The Chief Secretary emphasised the need for coordination among departments to expedite the construction of the hospital, which will be the first modern cancer hospital in eastern India.

Ahuja instructed the concerned departments to work together to ensure the project’s timely completion. The hospital is expected to benefit cancer patients from various districts of Odisha and neighbouring states. The meeting also discussed the need for registration of the Population and Cancer Registry in Odisha, a survey, medical facilities, and upcoming challenges.

The meeting was attended by Additional Chief Secretary, Revenue Department Deo Ranjan Kumar Singh, Director General, Fire Services Dr. Sudhanshu Sarangi, Commissioner, Health and Family Welfare Department and Secretary, Health and Family Welfare Department Ashwati S, Managing Director, CRUT, N.N. Tirumala Nayak, Khurda District Collector Amrit Ruturaj, Director, Public Health, Odisha and other senior officials of the Health Department, Tata Memorial Hospital, Mumbai, Professor Dr. Lingaraj Nayak, Cancer Specialist, and colleagues, officials of Urban Development, East, Power and other related departments of the Government of Odisha.
