Geneva/Bhubaneswar: A distinguished alumni delegation from the Maharashtra Institute of Technology School of Governance (MITSOG), Pune, recently visited the Geneva School of Diplomacy to strengthen academic and professional collaboration in governance, diplomacy, and technology for public good.
During the visit, Rakesh Krishnan, Director of the Geneva School of Diplomacy, delivered a keynote presentation on “AI for Good: Transforming Diplomacy and Governance in the 21st Century.” He highlighted the transformative role of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in sustainable development, crisis management, policymaking, and humanitarian responses, while also underlining the ethical imperatives of transparency, equity, and responsible data use.
Adding an Indian perspective, Pinaki Mohanty, a MITSOG alumnus currently associated with the Centre for Modernizing Government Initiatives under the Government of Odisha, shared his experiences in digital governance reforms.
He spoke about pioneering initiatives such as “WhatsApp Governance” for citizen engagement and AI-enabled service delivery systems aimed at improving transparency, efficiency, and accountability in Odisha’s administration. His presentation showcased how innovative technologies are being strategically deployed to transform governance and strengthen citizen services.
The interactive session facilitated lively discussions between Indian alumni and Geneva scholars, exploring avenues for joint research, policy development, and capacity building at the intersection of AI, governance, and diplomacy.
The delegation expressed appreciation for the opportunity to engage with global experts, emphasizing the importance of cross-border collaboration in shaping future-ready governance systems. The visit marks a significant step toward deepening partnerships between MITSOG and the Geneva School of Diplomacy, advancing the global dialogue on technology-enabled governance and international cooperation.
