Bhubaneswar: The State Government today revealed that gold deposits have been found in Deogarh district and Keonjhar district
Replying to Biju Janata Dal (BJD) MLA Ashwani Kumar Patra regarding the discovery of gold mines in the state, Minister of Steel and Mines, Bibhuti Bhushan Jena, revealed that gold deposits have been found in the Adas area of Deogarh district and the Gopur area of Keonjhar district.
According to the Minister, the estimated gold deposits in these areas are 1685 kg in Deogarh and 311.07 kg in Keonjhar. The government will consider auctioning these gold deposits for exploitation if it is economically and geologically feasible.
The Minister further stated that the Geological Survey of India (GSI) has conducted exploration work in these areas in collaboration with the State Directorate of Mines and Geology. The GSI’s survey has helped identify the potential for gold extraction in these regions.
