Bhubaneswar: In a bid to strengthen women’s self-help groups (SHGs) through skill development and enterprise promotion, the Mission Shakti Department on Thursday signed four Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) with leading sectoral institutions.

The pacts were signed with the Food Industry Capacity and Skill Initiative (FICSI) to promote opportunities in the food processing industry, the Telecom Sector Skill Council (TSSC) for micro-enterprise training, the Gem and Jewellery Skill Council of India (GJSCI) for textile training and e-commerce linkages, and the National Commission for Women for self-defense programmes.

In a parallel development, Hindustan Coca-Cola submitted a Letter of Intent to the department, outlining its plan to support Subhadra Shakti Cafes by providing coolers and refrigerators under its corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives.

Officials said the agreements will provide SHG members with market-driven skills, improve livelihood opportunities, and ensure better financial empowerment for women across Odisha.
