Bhubaneswar: The third day of the monsoon session of the Odisha Legislative Assembly on Saturday was adjourned until 4 pm following disruptions caused by Biju Janata Dal (BJD) MLAs demanding discussion on fertiliser shortages.
The proceedings began with the Chief Minister requesting the Speaker to observe a moment of silence in honor of George Tirkey, the four-time MLA from Biramitrapur, who passed away at the age of 67.
At around 10.45 am, the Question Hour commenced with Works Minister Prithviraj Harichandan addressing the house on the progress of the bypass road construction. However, the session was soon disrupted as BJD legislators staged a protest inside the well of the house, holding placards and raising slogans against the BJP government.
Despite repeated appeals by Speaker Surama Padhy for the protesting members to return to their seats and maintain decorum, the BJD legislators continued their demonstration, prompting the Speaker to adjourn the House until 4 pm.
