Bhubaneswar: Two persons lost their lives and another sustained critical injuries in separate road accidents reported from different parts of Odisha on Sunday.
In the first incident, Narasingh Bhatra of Badakhuna village in Nabarangpur district was travelling with his daughter, Karuna, on a two-wheeler to Muli village in neighbouring Chhattisgarh. Around 10 am, a speeding tipper truck from the opposite direction collided with their vehicle near Motigaon. Bhatra died on the spot, while Karuna sustained severe injuries.
She was initially taken to the Kosagumuda Community Health Centre and later shifted to the Nabarangpur District Headquarters Hospital for further treatment. The Kosagumuda Police registered a case (No. 190/25) and handed over the body to the family after post-mortem.
An investigation is underway.
In a separate incident around 5 pm, a trailer truck en route to Chhattisgarh collided head-on with another truck on National Highway-49 near Kanaktora Chhak in Jharsuguda district. The impact led the trailer to veer off course, hitting two more vehicles.
The trailer driver, identified as Mantu Singh of Jharkhand, died on the spot.
On being informed, Rengali Police reached the site and launched a probe into the incident.
