Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Vigilance sleuths arrested Soumya Ranjan Kheti, former Principal of Odisha Adarsha Vidyalaya (OAV) at Binika in Subarnapur district, on charges of embezzling government funds.
The alleged misappropriation amounts to a staggering Rs 55,02,610, which was meant for various government initiatives, including the Mid-Day Meal (MDM) scheme, Mo School Abhiyan, and Girls’ Hostel Fund Contingencies.
According to information provided by Odisha Vigilance, the embezzlement is said to have occurred during Kheti’s tenure as Principal from 2021-22 to 2024-25. Following inputs about the misappropriation of funds, an inquiry was conducted, which led to the registration of a case against him.
The Sambalpur Vigilance Police Station has registered a case (Case No.19/2025) under relevant sections of the Prevention of Corruption (Amendment) Act, 2018, and the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
Kheti was appointed as Principal of Binika Adarsh Vidyalaya on September 29, 2021. After his arrest, he is being interrogated to ascertain the details of the misappropriation and the use of government funds.
