Bhubaneswar: Vigilance today apprehended Rakesh Kumar Sahoo, Accountant and Data Entry Operator (ADEO) of Niladriprasad panchayat in Khordha district, while he was accepting a bribe of Rs 6,000 from a tribal beneficiary of the Antyodaya Gruha Yojana.
Sahoo allegedly demanded the bribe in exchange for releasing the first installment of Rs 40,000 for the construction of a house under the government scheme. The complainant, who was being harassed, approached the Vigilance authorities, leading to a trap operation that caught Sahoo red-handed.
The entire bribe amount of Rs 6,000 was recovered and seized from Sahoo’s possession. Searches are currently underway at two locations linked to Sahoo to investigate potential disproportionate assets. A case has been registered, and further investigation is in progress.
