Bhubaneswar: A 38-year-old man went missing after being swept away by the strong currents of the Nagavali River in Gurumuguda village in Rayagada district.
According to reports, the incident occurred on Monday evening when Sinu Badu, a resident of Gurumuguda village, had gone to the river to answer nature’s call. Upon being informed, fire brigade officials rushed to the scene, but due to darkness, they were unable to locate Sinu.
Till the last report came in, a search operation was still underway by Rayagada police to trace Sinu.
Notably, this is the second incident of its kind in the district in the past few days. On October 2, a young man named Simadri Miniaka from Kotapeta village died after drowning in the Nagavali River.
The recent heavy rainfall in the district has caused the water level in the Nagavali River and other rivers to rise, posing a risk to people living in nearby areas, said sources.
