Bhubaneswar: In a touching display of compassion and humanity, Ama Bus Captain Srikanta Jena, an employee of the Capital Region Urban Transport (CRUT), went beyond the call of duty to help a passenger in distress.
While operating Route 11 of the Ama Bus service, Jena learned that a passenger’s mother was in critical condition at AIIMS Bhubaneswar and urgently needed blood. The passenger, identified as Kailash Biswal, shared his plight during the bus ride.
After completing his duty, Jena immediately accompanied Kailash to the hospital, donated blood himself, and even arranged another donor, helping save the patient’s life.
Expressing gratitude, Kailash later sent a heartfelt message to CRUT, writing:
“Because of the help from Srikanta Bhai and the donor madam, my mother’s condition has now become stable. I sincerely thank both of them from the bottom of my heart. I especially want to thank your organization for having such kind and dedicated staff members.”
CRUT, acknowledging the noble act, shared the story on X (formerly Twitter), posting:
“Heartfelt salute to Ama Bus Captain Srikanta Jena! 🙏🏻 While on duty on Route 11, he learned a passenger’s mother needed urgent blood at AIIMS Bhubaneswar. After duty, he donated blood himself & arranged another donor — helping save her life.”
The act has since drawn widespread appreciation, with many praising Jena’s selflessness and commitment to public service — a gesture that exemplifies the human spirit.
