Bhubaneswar: A person was killed and 15 others were injured when a government-run bus, traveling from Kandhamal’s Lanjigarh to Cuttack, met with a road mishap at the Gadiapada ghati near Khajuripda on Friday night.
The deceased has been identified as Soumya Das, the bus conductor, from Dhenkanal district’s Kanhiapal.
According to reports, the accident took place as the bus lost balance and overturned near Khajuripada. The injured passengers were rushed to Khajuripada Hospital for treatment. Alternative transportation arrangements were made for the remaining passengers to reach their respective destinations.
Meanwhile, Khajuripada police have initiated an investigation into the cause of the accident.
