Bhubaneswar: Deputy Chief Minister of Odisha and Minister for Women & Child Development, Pravati Parida, has expressed deep anguish over the alleged gang rape of an Odia student at a medical college in Durgapur, West Bengal, and called for strict and immediate action against the culprits.
In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Parida wrote, “The gang rape of an Odia student at a medical college in Durgapur, West Bengal, has deeply pained me. I pray to Lord Jagannath for the speedy recovery of the victim who is under treatment. Whoever the culprits may be, the West Bengal government must take strict action through a swift investigation.”
The Deputy Chief Minister further stated that the Odisha government stands firmly with the victim and her family, assuring all possible support. She added that Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi has directed senior officials to coordinate with the West Bengal government to ensure appropriate and prompt action in the matter.
Tagging West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee (@MamataOfficial) in her post, Parida underscored the need for accountability and swift justice for the victim.
