Bhubaneswar: In a significant development in the Durgapur gang rape case, the police have arrested the victim’s friend in connection with the case, bringing the total number of arrests to six. The accused named Saddam will be produced before the court today.
The Asansol-Durgapur Police Commissionerate made the arrest as part of their ongoing investigation into the alleged gang rape of a second-year medical student.
Meanwhile, the police have begun reconstructing the crime scene to understand the sequence of events. A team led by Deputy Commissioner Abhishek Gupta visited the spot on Tuesday to recreate the incident. The recreation aims to gather more evidence and piece together the circumstances surrounding the alleged crime.
The police are working diligently to build a strong case against the accused. The victim’s friend’s arrest has added a new dimension to the investigation, and the police are expected to reveal more details about the case soon.
The victim, a second-year MBBS student of a private medical college in Durgapur was allegedly gang raped in the night on 10th October near the college campus when she had gone out with her friend to have dinner.
