Cuttack: The Cyber Police Station of Cuttack has arrested a youth for allegedly creating and circulating objectionable AI-generated videos targeting political leaders, celebrities, and other public figures. The accused has been identified as Bishwa Ballabh Nanda, a resident of the Salipur area.
According to police, Nanda was using artificial intelligence tools to produce morphed and misleading videos, which he then shared on various social media platforms. His motive, police said, was to gain views and earn money through online engagement.
The Cyber Police have seized a mobile phone and several screenshots used in the creation and posting of the content. A case has been registered, and further investigation is underway to determine the extent of his online activities and whether others were involved.
Addressing the media, Cuttack DCP Khilari Rishikesh Dnyandeo urged citizens to remain cautious while using social media. He advised the public not to accept friend requests from unknown individuals and to refrain from sharing personal information, photographs, or videos online.
The Commissionerate Police also reminded citizens that in case of cybercrime incidents, they can seek help by contacting the Cyber Helpline Number 1930.
