Bhubaneswar: The 70th State Police Duty Meet, organized under the aegis of the Odisha Police Crime Branch, will be held from October 16 to 19 at the Reserve Police Ground in Buxi Bazar, Cuttack.

The annual event will witness participation from 276 police personnel, 43 police dogs, and 43 handlers representing 34 police districts and establishments across the state. The State Crime Branch has made extensive arrangements, with final preparations nearing completion.

Aimed at upgrading the professional competence of police officers, the meet will focus on modern crime control methods such as forensic investigation, cybercrime detection, and technical surveillance. Officials said the competition plays a pivotal role in honing operational and investigative skills essential for effective law enforcement.

The meet will feature competitions in a range of disciplines, including forensic science, evidence collection, fingerprint analysis, crime investigation, photography, videography, medico-legal aspects, computer applications, and police sketching. Demonstrations by police dog squads and anti-sabotage units will also be part of the program.

The events will be hosted at three key venues — the Biju Patnaik State Police Academy in Bhubaneswar, the OSAP 6th Battalion in Cuttack, and the Reserve Police Ground in Buxi Bazar.

Performance will be assessed through both practical and written evaluations, with senior experts from various departments supervising the tests. The top performers will represent Odisha Police at the All-India Police Duty Meet scheduled to be held in Maharashtra in November.

Officials emphasized that the meet not only fosters skill development and professional confidence among police personnel but also enhances the overall efficiency and credibility of the police force in tackling evolving crime challenges.
