Puri: In a swift and coordinated operation, police rescued a youth who had been kidnapped from the Konark area of Puri district and rescued him from Paradip in Jagatsinghpur district, barely 36 hours after the abduction.
The victim, identified as Jay Chakraborty (35), was found with his hands and legs tied, and all the accused involved in the kidnapping have been arrested, police confirmed.
According to reports, Jay Chakraborty and his friend Ashok Kumar Sahu, both residents of Bhubaneswar, were returning from Konark after refueling at the HP petrol pump near Banakhandi Chhak on the Konark–Bhubaneswar main road. At that time, a group of 2–3 men in a navy-blue car reportedly followed them, intercepted their vehicle, and forcibly abducted Jay Chakraborty in a dramatic, “filmy” style before fleeing the spot at high speed.
Following a written complaint by Ashok Sahu at the Konark Police Station, a case was registered, and a massive manhunt was launched. The investigation was carried out under the direct supervision of Additional SP Sachin Patel and as per instructions from Puri SP Prateek Singh. Two special teams comprising personnel from Puri District Police and Konark Police were formed to trace the abductors.
After a series of night raids across multiple locations, police tracked the accused to Paradip, where they successfully rescued the victim in a handcuffed state. The vehicle used in the abduction was also seized.
