Go Green This Diwali: Bhubaneswar Environmentalist Promotes Balloon Celebrations

Bhubaneswar: As Diwali approaches, concerns about air pollution and environmental damage caused by firecrackers are growing. In Bhubaneswar, environmentalist Sushant Sahu is advocating for a cleaner, greener celebration. Sahu suggests using colourful balloons instead of firecrackers to mark the festival of lights.

Supporting the “Say No to Crackers” campaign, Sahu highlights the significant contribution of firecrackers to air pollution. He notes that bursting crackers during Diwali causes severe air pollution, damaging the environment and posing health risks, especially respiratory problems.

Sahu’s innovative idea has been welcomed by many, and he hopes it will inspire people to adopt eco-friendly ways of celebrating Diwali. By choosing balloons over crackers, individuals can help reduce pollution and create a safer, healthier environment.

The Supreme Court’s stricter restrictions on firecrackers have been a welcome move for environmentalists. Sahu’s initiative aligns with the growing awareness about the need for sustainable celebrations. As Delhi’s air pollution continues to be a concern, Sahu’s message of a clean and green Diwali is particularly relevant.
