Koraput (Jeypore): With Diwali just around the corner, students of the Eco Club at City High School, Jeypore, took an eco-friendly initiative by crafting traditional clay lamps to promote environmental awareness.
In an event organised by Eco Club teacher Pratap Pattnayak and City English Medium School principal Sudhakar Patnaik, students pledged to celebrate Diwali by lighting these clay lamps at their homes, thereby avoiding noise and air pollution commonly associated with the festival.
Local potter Gopa Sundar Panigrahi and school security staff member Sunil Batra guided the students and staff through the art of making clay lamps, fostering both creativity and cultural tradition.
Teachers, staff, and other members of the school community actively participated, making the event a success and sending a strong message about celebrating festivals responsibly and sustainably.
This initiative highlights the growing awareness among young people about the importance of protecting the environment while honoring cultural customs.
