Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Majhi mourned the passing of legendary Indian actor Govardhan Asrani, popularly known as Asrani.
Taking to social media, Majhi described the news as “deeply saddening” and lauded Asrani’s unique humour and remarkable performances that have left an indelible mark on Indian cinema and touched millions of fans.
CM Majhi, in his tweet, called on Lord Jagannath to grant the actor’s soul eternal peace.
“The news of the demise of Shri Govardhan Asrani ji, the legendary artist of Indian cinema, is deeply saddening. His invaluable contributions through his unique humour and remarkable performances will remain etched forever in the history of Indian cinema and in the hearts of millions of admirers. May Mahaprabhu Shri Jagannath bless his noble soul with eternal peace. Om Shanti,” Majhi wrote.
Asrani, celebrated for his comic timing and versatile roles across Hindi, Gujarati and Odia films, was a beloved figure in the industry for over five decades. His body of work includes iconic movies such as Sholay, Chupke Chupke, and many regional hits that earned him multiple awards and a lasting fan following.
