Bhubaneswar: With a few hours left for the cyclone Montha, Ganjam district Collector Keerthi Vasan V visited the Gopalpur beach and cyclone shelters to oversee the preparations.
According to reports, the administration has taken steps to ensure the safety of pregnant women, children, elderly, and livestock in the areas going to be affected by the cyclone. The Collector directed the Executive Officer to ensure timely evacuation of people from low-lying areas to cyclone shelters and provide food arrangements for them.
The Collector was accompanied by officials, including Konisi Tahasildar Kabiraj Pradhan, Block Development Officer of Rangeilunda Bidyadhar Ray, and Executive Officer Purushottam Benia, during the inspection.
The district administration is working to minimize the impact of the cyclone and ensure the safety of the people in the affected areas.
Notably, port signal no 2 has been issued for Gopalpur Port due to cyclone Montha.
