Bhubaneswar: In a major crackdown on illegal narcotics trade, police on Wednesday arrested three persons and seized around 770.100 kg of ganja from a container truck near Surlukonda Dam under Orkel police limits in Malkangiri district.
According to police, the contraband was being transported from Kambeda village to Uttar Pradesh. Acting on suspicion during routine patrolling, Orkel police intercepted the container truck and, upon inspection, found 17 bags of ganja weighing over 770 kg concealed inside.
The three accused, all residents of Uttar Pradesh, were taken into custody. Police also seized the container truck and three mobile phones from their possession.
A case has been registered under Sections 20(b)(ii)(C)/25/29 of the NDPS Act at Orkel Police Station (Case No. 295/25, dated 27.10.25). The accused have been forwarded to court for further legal action.
