Bhubaneswar: In a significant development, the Special Judge, Vigilance, Bhubaneswar on Wednesday sentenced Raghunatha Mallick, former Assistant Drugs Controller, Bhubaneswar (Retired), to two years of rigorous imprisonment and imposed a fine of ₹1,00,000 after convicting him in a disproportionate assets (DA) case filed by the Odisha Vigilance.
Mallick was found guilty under Section 13(2) read with Section 13(1)(e) of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988 for possessing assets disproportionate to his known sources of income.
Following the conviction, the Odisha Vigilance has stated that it will move the competent authority to stop Mallick’s pension as per existing rules and procedures.
The case underscores the Vigilance Directorate’s continued focus on pursuing corruption cases, even against retired officials.
