Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government has taken prompt action to resolve drinking water-related grievances reported through social media in three districts, including Nabarangpur, Jajpur and Kandhamala, ensuring the restoration of essential water facilities at the grassroots level, officials said on Monday.
The Panchayati Raj and Drinking Water Department initiated field-level action following complaints received over the past two days, addressing issues related to a tube well, a non-functional water source and a damaged solar-powered water storage tank.
In Nabarangpur district, the department acted on a complaint concerning a drinking water facility in Chakalapadar Gram Panchayat under Jharigam block. The tube well mentioned in the complaint was disinfected, while water samples were collected and sent to a laboratory for testing.
Additionally, a new tube well equipped with a hand pump was installed to meet the drinking water requirements of local residents.
In Jajpur district, officials arranged for the repair of a non-functional tube well in the Binjharpur block area following a complaint posted on social media. The tube well has since resumed normal functioning, the department said.
Similarly, in Kandhamala district, the department replaced a damaged solar-powered water storage tank in Rindabali Patangapadar village under Judabali Gram Panchayat in Kotagarh block.
The replacement was undertaken to restore the normal functioning of the village’s drinking water supply system and ensure access to water for local residents.
The department said these interventions were part of its continued efforts to address public grievances, improve the delivery of essential services and ensure prompt action on issues affecting people at the grassroots level.
It reiterated its commitment to strengthening a responsive, accountable and people-centric governance system by prioritising public complaints and taking timely corrective measures.
The department continues to focus on resolving drinking water-related problems and addressing the needs of rural communities through coordinated action by field-level officials.
