Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Mohan Majhi has expressed deep grief over the tragic building collapse in Buxi Bazar, Cuttack, which claimed three lives. The victims, identified as Abdul Jalil (60), Abdul Zaheed (30), and Abdul Mujahid (5), belonged to one family.
Majhi has announced a compensation of Rs 4 lakh from the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund (CMRF) to the next of kin of the deceased. The State Government has also arranged for the best treatment of the injured.
Three others, who were seriously injured, are undergoing treatment at SCB Medical College and Hospital. Fire Service personnel rescued all six persons and took them to the hospital, where doctors declared three dead.
The incident occurred when the balcony of an old apartment building collapsed, falling on an adjacent asbestos-roofed house.
