Balasore: In a decisive operation, Balasore police arrested two notorious gangsters from the industrial area of the district on Wednesday. During the raid, a pistol, one magazine, and two knives were seized from the accused.
The arrested have been identified as Kailash Das, alias Kuan, and Animesh Ghosh. Both men are known for their involvement in multiple criminal cases across the district.
According to Balasore SP Pratyush Diwaker, both men are hardened criminals involved in multiple cases in the district.
“Animesh Ghosh has 32 cases registered against him, while Kailash Das has over 25. They are accused of serious crimes, including murder, attempted murder, extortion, and threatening local businessmen to collect protection money,” the SP said.
The arrests were carried out by a special police team comprising senior officers after intelligence revealed that the duo was entering Balasore from another state with the intent to commit criminal activities. Acting on precise information, the team tracked and apprehended them in the industrial area early Wednesday morning.
“Both accused will be forwarded to court, and our investigation into their network, associates, gang members, and financiers is underway. Our objective is to dismantle the entire gang,” SP Diwaker added.
The operation is being hailed as a major step in curbing organized crime in the district, with police promising continued action against criminal networks operating in Balasore.
