Bhubaneswar: One person was killed and two others sustained serious injuries in a road accident at Marlaba Ghati under Rayagada police station in Gajapati district late Tuesday night.
The deceased has been identified as the driver, who died on the spot when the truck he was driving lost control and crashed into a hillock. The two injured passengers were immediately shifted to Khajuripada Community Health Centre (CHC) in critical condition.
According to reports, a Hitachi-laden truck heading towards Andhra Pradesh from R. Udayagiri veered off the road in the accident-prone Marlaba Ghati area. The force of the collision caused the truck’s loaded cabin to be pushed upwards, killing the driver instantly.
On receiving the information, Rayagada police along with the Rayagada and R. Udayagiri fire brigades reached the site and conducted rescue operations.
