Elephant Calf Trapped In Well, Rescued By Forest Dept In Balangir

Balangir: A female elephant calf reportedly fell into an abandoned well near the Muribahal forest range last night.

According to reports, locals heard elephant’s screams and found it lying in well. They failed to rescue it even after attempting several times. Upon being informed, the Forest Department received the distress call and dispatched a team to the scene. The team used a JCB to dig an access path and rescue the elephant.

During the rescue operation, one person was seriously injured and was rushed to the hospital by ambulance.

However, the elephant has been successfully rescued and is safe. An investigation into the incident is underway.
