Bhubaneswar: Popular Odia playback singer Humane Sagar passed away on Monday evening while undergoing treatment at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Bhubaneswar. He was 36.
According to Dr. Srikant Behera, Intensivist and ECMO Specialist at AIIMS, Humane Sagar’s multi-organ dysfunction syndrome did not respond to aggressive and advanced treatment provided by a team of specialist doctors. The singer breathed his last at 9 pm.
Humane Sagar was admitted to AIIMS emergency on October 14 at 1.10 pm in a critical state. He was later moved to the Medical ICU for further evaluation. Doctors confirmed that he was suffering from multi-organ dysfunction syndrome, acute-on-chronic liver failure, bilateral pneumonia, and dilated cardiomyopathy with severe left ventricular systolic dysfunction.
Known for his melodious voice and chart-topping songs, Humane Sagar rose to fame with the title track of the film ‘Ishq Tu Hi Tu.’ Over his career, he sang hundreds of Odia movie and bhajan songs and contributed to several music albums including ‘Tuma Otha Tale’, ‘Niswasa’, ‘Bekhudee’, and ‘Chehera’ (2017).
The sudden demise of the singer has left the Odia music and film industry in mourning. Fans across the state took to social media to express grief and share condolences, remembering a singer who had left an indelible mark on Odia music.
