Bhubaneswar: In a bid to raise public awareness about rising road accidents, the Odisha government has approved the installation of an “Odisha Road Accidents Clock” at AG Square in the state capital.
The initiative was confirmed through an official communication issued by Tapan Kumar Mishra, Joint Director of the Commerce and Transport Department.
As per the letter, the proposed system will include an outdoor video wall. A techno-commercial proposal for the display has already been submitted by Addsoft Technologies Ltd. The letter stated that the display will serve as a real-time awareness tool, aimed at encouraging behavioural change among commuters.
“In inviting kind reference to the subject cited above, I am directed to inform you that it has been decided to set up an Odisha Road Accidents Clock at AG Square, Bhubaneswar, with the objective of creating public awareness about road accidents and fostering positive behavioural change,” the letter stated.
It further directed the General Manager of Bhubaneswar Smart City Ltd. to take immediate steps for the installation process.
The Smart City authorities have also been advised to coordinate closely with the Transport Commissioner of Odisha to ensure timely and seamless execution of the project.
