Bhubaneswar: A low-pressure area over the Strait of Malacca and adjoining South Andaman Sea has intensified into a well-marked low-pressure area, according to weather scientist Umashankar Das.
It’s expected to move west-northwestwards and strengthen into a depression over the southeast Bay of Bengal by November 24, 2025, and develop into a cyclonic storm over the next 48 hours.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a special message warning of heavy rainfall in southern states, including Tamil Nadu, Kerala, and Andhra Pradesh. The Andaman and Nicobar Islands are also expected to receive heavy to very heavy rainfall, with squally winds and rough sea conditions.
