Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Monday presided over the 15th session of the Chief Minister’s Grievance Hearing Programme, where he personally listened to complaints brought in by residents of Keonjhar district at the Grievance Cell in Unit-2, Bhubaneswar.
Eight senior cabinet ministers joined him in the day-long exercise, reinforcing the government’s commitment to direct citizen outreach.
The platform, designed to give ordinary citizens face-to-face access to the state’s top leadership, has so far received 12,950 grievances, of which 12,371—nearly 96%—have already been resolved. The remaining 579 cases are under process. Officials said the Chief Minister continues to issue immediate instructions to departments depending on the urgency and nature of each complaint, a practice that has significantly boosted public trust.
As is now customary, the Chief Minister first stepped outside to meet 34 differently-abled and chronically ill individuals waiting from early morning. He interacted with each of them, collected their petitions, and directed officials to take prompt action. Inside the Grievance Cell, he heard cases registered in advance, including one woman who visited solely to thank him after her long-pending issue was resolved through his intervention. Several distressed complainants also received reassurance and personal attention from the Chief Minister.
Speaking to journalists later, CM Majhi reiterated that his government is “a people’s government” committed to ensuring that every citizen receives basic services, opportunities, and support. He said collectors across districts have been instructed to conduct regular grievance hearings at the local level to ensure that most issues are resolved without forcing citizens to travel to Bhubaneswar.
Deputy Chief Minister Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo and ministers Suresh Pujari, Mukesh Mahaling, Krushna Chandra Mahapatra, Bibhuti Bhushan Jena, Pradeep Bal Samanta, Ganesh Ram Singh Khuntia, and Gokulananda Mallik were present during the session. Senior officers including Additional Chief Secretaries Satyabrata Sahu, Surendra Kumar, and Deoranjan Kumar Singh; Principal Secretary to the CM Saswat Mishra; and secretaries of multiple departments also assisted in the proceedings.
