Cuttack: Calls for a high-level investigation into the death of renowned singer Humane Sagar have grown stronger, with fresh allegations and public pressure mounting from multiple quarters.
Advocate Padmalaya Mohapatra, Joint Secretary of the Orissa High Court Bar Association, has written to the Chief Minister demanding a thorough and transparent probe into the circumstances surrounding the singer’s death.
In her letter, Mohapatra raised critical questions about what led to Humane Sagar’s demise, asking whether he fell victim to pressure, negligence, or foul play. She sought an investigation led by either a senior IPS officer or the Crime Branch, ensuring that every individual linked to the singer is brought under the purview of the inquiry — including family members.
She also demanded the preservation and forensic examination of all digital evidence, such as the singer’s mobile phone data, call records, bank transactions, and social media activity. Mohapatra emphasized that the state government must present a transparent and comprehensive report before the public to dispel doubts surrounding the case.
Meanwhile, members of the Christian community, along with Humane Sagar’s family, have submitted a memorandum to the Balangir SP, alleging that the singer’s death was the result of a planned murder, not a natural incident. They argued that Humane Sagar’s sudden deterioration in physical condition before his death raises serious suspicions.
The group demanded justice for the singer’s wife and daughter, calling for a detailed inquiry into the role of everyone associated with him — particularly his manager, whom they accused of misconduct and financial irregularities. They also sought scrutiny of the manager’s bank accounts and those of others connected to the case.
Both the family and the community members have warned that if the truth is suppressed or if the investigation lacks transparency, they will launch a state-wide agitation demanding justice.
