Bhubaneswar: Emphasising the growing importance of scientific temperament in nation-building, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Tuesday said that science and technology will be the driving force behind India’s emergence as a global power.
The Chief Minister was speaking at the Science and Technology Festival SAITED 2025, organised by SAI International School in Bhubaneswar.
Addressing students, Majhi said today’s children are the architects of a prosperous Odisha and a developed India. He lauded the inclusive nature of the event, noting that apart from private schools, students from government schools across Cuttack and Bhubaneswar also took part.
“Such platforms nurture creativity and scientific curiosity among young minds,” he added.
Highlighting the Centre’s initiatives to boost scientific research, the Chief Minister said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has established a ₹1 lakh crore Research & Development Fund to strengthen India’s research ecosystem.
“This will enrich the research sector, attract more students to pursue innovation, and help them reach new milestones in science and technology,” he said.
Majhi also underscored the contributions of Indian scientists to modern technological advancements.
“We Indians possess some of the finest intellect and talent in the world. With abundant resources, quality teachers, and open access to knowledge, students today have limitless opportunities to excel,” he remarked, urging children to channel their intellectual potential toward scientific pursuits.
The event saw the presence of Dr. Silpi Sahoo, Chairperson of SAI International Education Group, and renowned astronaut Group Captain Shubhanshu Shukla, among other dignitaries.
