Sundargarh: Under the direct instructions of Bonai Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) Ram Chandra Biswal, a special joint team was formed comprising police personnel from Tikayatpali and Gurundia police stations, Excise Department and Forest Department officials to crack down on illicit ganja cultivation in the region.
Acting on reliable intelligence, the team conducted a massive raid in the forest areas under the Tikayatpali and Gurundia police station limits. During the operation, approximately 3 acres of illegally cultivated ganja crop were destroyed in the Kelo jungle under the Gurundia police station. The destruction was carried out in the presence of an executive magistrate, and ganja plants valued at around Rs 30 lakh in the black market were burnt on the spot.
SDPO Ram Chandra Biswal warned that such joint operations will continue relentlessly under his leadership until illegal ganja cultivation is wiped out from Bonai subdivision.
Strict legal action will be initiated against all those involved, he added.
