Cuttack: The four-day search for Rahul, the missing son of former Madhupur sarpanch Sumina Pradhan, ended in tragedy on Thursday after his decomposed body was recovered from the Mahanadi river near Kishannagar.
According to police, the body was found floating in the river and was retrieved earlier today. Rahul, 22, had been missing since Sunday. His family had lodged a complaint at Barang police station after he failed to return home. He had left on his Bullet motorcycle with ₹200 in his pocket to visit a friend’s house but did not come back, prompting an extensive search.
Upon receiving information about the recovery of a body, Rahul’s parents — Sumina and Pavitra Mohan Pradhan — rushed to the spot. They identified the body, which was then sent to SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack for post-mortem examination.
Police have registered a case and begun an investigation to determine the circumstances leading to Rahul’s death.
