Bhubaneswar: In a significant boost to industrial development, Odisha has approved 324 large and medium industries over the past 20 months, with a proposed investment of Rs 7,06,209 crore and the potential to generate employment for 4,57,252 people, Industries Minister Sampad Chandra Swain informed the state assembly on Friday.
In a written reply to a question by Patkura MLA Arvind Mohapatra, the minister said that from April 2024 to November 30, 2025, these projects received approvals under the State Single Window System, aimed at simplifying the investment process and accelerating industrial growth in the state.
Minister Swain further stated that, as per the Industrial Policy Resolution 2022 (IPR 2022), large industries are required to commence commercial production within five years, while medium industries must start within three years from the date of their first fixed capital investment.
Highlighting the government’s efforts to attract investment, the minister added that these approvals reflect Odisha’s commitment to creating employment opportunities and positioning the state as a preferred destination for industrial projects.
